REFRAME-it framework

In the early stages of a project it is good practice to create a visual overview of the ‘scope’ of the project. In our case and for our field we call this visual overview a user journey. As the name implies, we look at a user journey from a user’s point of view. This means that before we make user journeys, we need to know who the user of the product we are designing is. And we need to find out more about them. This involves making personas. You cannot make user journeys without making personas first.

Reinvent-it

Reshift your focus by looking at the complete journey of your product by looking at what is going on at the customer end of a product as well as at the business end of it. Look at the big picture, from conception to consumption, with current & future service blueprints.

Extend-it

If you feel that your idea is viable, extend the ‘build & validate’- period with two more test rounds, otherwise pivot

Frame-it

Construct a product vision, user journeys & empathy maps and get started on your MVP canvas

Review-it

Look at the results so far and decide if the information you have is enough to make an MVP and collect data

Analyse-it

It is now time to put your MVP online, gather data about user behaviour and perfect your product

Model-it

Build the real product as soon as you have enough information about how your prototype feels in the hands of your audience

Execute-it!

Go-no-go. You and your stakeholders now know enough about the product’s chances on the open market. You can either drop it or continue to invest in it

Title

Personas are fictional characters, which you create based on your research in order to represent the different user types that might use your service, product, site, or brand in a similar way. Creating personas helps the designer to understand users’ needs, experiences, behaviors and goals.
